Video Vault 22 - blah, blah, blah
I'm working on a recap of PWG's Battle of Los Angeles shows from 2006 but, obviously, they ain't done yet. So here's some stuff to watch to tide you over in the interim...
Takashi Sasaki v. Yuko Miyamoto - Scaffold Deathmatch (Big Japan Pro Wrestling - 3.14.07)
Early candidate for Match of the Year and one of the better deathmatches I've ever seen. Not a fan of the DM style at all, but I can certainly appreciate them when they're done well. This is pretty brutal, but even beyond the weapons there's a killer match at the core.
Takeshi Morishima v. Homicide - ROH Title (ROH - Fifth Year Festival:Philly - 2.17.07)
Whatever your thought is on the booking, it's hard to deny that Morishima is a KILLING MACHINE. I'm curious to see how this all plays out and won't really bitch about it unless it all goes south from here.
Ring of Honor v. Combat Zone Wrestling - Cage of Death (ROH - Death Before Dishonor IV - 7.15.06)
The big blow off for the entire ROH/CZW feud. I didn't like it as much as most (I believe I referred to it as an "overbooked mess" in my best of 2006 post), but that's not to say it doesn't bring the violence and wrap up one of the better feuds of the year. Watch it and decide for yourself!
Mike Quackenbush v. Jerry Lynn (IWA:EC - A Need to Bleed 2007 - 2.7.07)
Haven't watched this because the DVD is actually on it's way. But yeah...it's Quack/Lynn. How could it *not* kick ass? This is from IWA: East Coast. Basically the sister promotion to IWA:MS and run by Mad Man Pondo. They have some fun shows if you don't mind sitting through the hack and slash stuff to get to the fun.
Undertaker v. Batista - World Title (WWE - Wrestlemania 23 - 4.1.07)
If you haven't had a chance to see this yet, here you go. Who knew Batista could still have a match this good? People pretty well snickered when he did the interview saying that he and 'Taker would steal the show, but damn, did he back that shit up in the ring. Awesome match.
Mokujin Ken v. Mecha Mummy (CHIKARA - King of Trios: Night 3 - 2.18.07)
And now, for something *COMPLETELY* different...
