So yeah, if you make the final table, you're guaranteed at least $1 million. Not bad work if you can get it.

The highlight from yesterday (or lowlight, depending on your perspective) was provided by none other than Mike "The Mouth" Matusow. About an hour into yesterday's play, Matusow dropped the dreaded "F-bomb" at his table, apparently after he had been accused of throwing cards or something. As we've seen a couple of times in various events in this year's WSoP, swearing isn't tolerated at the tables, and is punishable by a 10-minute penalty, during which your chips are still live (blinds and antes still being taken out despite you not being there, etc.) While he was arguing with the tournament director over the ruling, Matusow said it a second time.

And then a third time.

And then a fourth time.

So, he was assessed 40 minutes worth of penalties. Surprisingly, he's still in the tournament, and actually doing relatively well. He's currently in 820th place out of the approximately 1,880 players still remaining.

Some of the notable eliminations from yesterday included Doyle Brunson, the Godfather of Poker himself, who entered and exited the Rio to a big standing ovation. Others that were sent home on the final Day 1 included John D'Agostino, Shannon Sharpe (yeah, the football player), James Woods, Hoyt Corkins, Mark Seif, Mel Judah, Chip Jett, T.J. Cloutier, Minh Nguyen, and Andy Bloch.

Your Top 10 in chips after all the Day 1 action has been completed:

1) Haakow Waerstad - $169,200
2) Sam Farha - $156,600
3) Nguyen Duc - $150,250
4) Lee Watkinson - $145,800
5) Graeme Harrison - $142,700
6) Jeffrey Dziedzic - $136,450
7) Brad Kondracki - $131,825
8) Mike Gambony - $130,000
9) Ed Cardona - $129,475
10) Pete Lawson - $124,825

Play resumes today in a little more than 4 hours.
